Potty Training

I have watched kids since I was 15 and I have never had to potty train any of them. They were either already potty trained or too young to be potty trained. So I have avoided potty training Kenya because I really didn't know what to do.

Well a week ago on Friday I decided it was time. So I put her in panties and took her to the potty every 30 minutes the first day. It went really well and she only had one accident. We left for church Friday night and on the way she said, "I have to go potty." I told her to hold it and she said, "I can't hold it!" I don't think she understood what I was saying so I told her just don't go potty. We were in traffic on the highway and Destinee was driving just to add a little more stress to the whole experience. Well Dee was finally able to stop at Wendy's and guess what... Kenya held it and went on the potty at Wendy's! I was so proud. :)

A few days ago Kenya was sitting on the potty then she ran into the living room got her guitar and went back to the bathroom. In my head I said I would NEVER put pictures of Kenya on the potty but this picture is just way too cute. Just for the record Kenya doesn't know who Hannah Montana is. The guitar is Kenya's birthday gift from her Uncle Toe Toe.

So now that we are on the subject of potty training Kenya goes pee pee on the potty all day long but she will NOT poop on the potty,...
any ideas?

We had to use bribery at first, the boys would get some sugar free jelly beans if they pooped in the potty. We also had a family parade every time they pooped in the potty, we would get in a line one behind another, and sing and march through the house and celebrate!!! They loved this, so it worked well! Good Luck!

Don't have an advice for pooping on the potty as my girls both pooped on the potty before they peed on it. With my second I actually started putting her on the potty to poop when she was about eight or nine months old. Wasn't really trying to train her yet jsut figured if I knew she was about to poop why let her do it in her pants and also figured it must be easier to go on the potty then in a diaper.

The only advice I wanted to suggest is to get a small potty to leave in the car. It has been a lifesaver for us so many times and also helps avoid dirty restrooms.

Some kids just take longer to poop train... happens to lots of kids, all i know is that it will happen in time.

Bribery is always good. Brayden got a popsicle everytime he pooped on the potty. We stopped like forever ago but every once in a while he will go to the bathroom and come out and ask for a popsicle. It's like his little brain has permanently attached one to the other.

How cute! I wonder if my husband would mind if I played rock band in the bathroom...hmmm...=D On the poop front not a clue my sister is currently struggling with my niece so I'm of no help.
